And for now, they’ve clearly amended their pre-hire drug testing requirements for most store-based team members.
Do Warehouse Positions Require Drug Testing?
Again, the official Tractor Supply policy is that all candidates must pass a drug test before they’re hired. Employees giving feedback about the hiring process for distribution center positions indicate that they will need to take a drug test.
Some employees report that they had to take a mouth swab drug test, and others say they took a urine test.
As you may be aware, the detection windows for the two types of tests differ, with the most significant difference being the detection window for marijuana. A swab test can detect marijuana for 48 hours after last use, but a urine test for marijuana can pick up THC metabolites for up to 90 days.
For the best chance of securing a job at a Tractor Supply distribution center, you should make sure you can pass a urine drug screen.
If you’ve applied for a driving job that requires a CDL, then you’ll need to pass a urine test because that’s the only test that meets Department of Transportation regulations.

Do They Drug Test At the Interview Or Orientation?

What Kind Of Drug Test Does Tractor Supply Use?

Reasonable cause testing and post-accident testing both use urinalysis, and if alcohol use is suspected, the policy allows for blood, breath, or saliva testing.

Can You Use Medical Marijuana At Tractor Supply?

Although medical marijuana is legal in many states, marijuana is still a Schedule 1 illegal drug at the federal level, and most companies still base their drug testing policy on the federal classification.
If you test positive for marijuana when you apply for a job, you won’t be hired.
If you test positive because you appear to be under the influence of marijuana, you will have your employment terminated and you may be denied unemployment benefits depending on state law.
If you fail a drug test after an accident, you’ll lose your job, and any workers’ comp benefits you were entitled to will be denied if state law allows it.
While managers can exercise discretion over reasonable cause drug testing, and employees state that some managers do indeed turn a blind eye to marijuana use, they will always test you after an accident that requires medical treatment.
Unless your state has enacted employment protections for medical marijuana use, it’s unwise to use the drug during your employment at Tractor Supply.
