What Kind Of Drug Test Does State Farm Use?

State Farm uses urine testing.

Once you accept a conditional job offer, you’ll have a short window to take a drug test. This window is usually 48 hours. Your job offer will contain all of the necessary information about where you should go to submit your urine sample.

Depending on where you live, you could be instructed to attend a local clinic or a dedicated sample collection site. Some drug testing locations offer appointments, while others are walk-in centers and you may have to wait around if they’re busy.

Make sure you take your ID with you because you can’t take a drug test without valid identification.

You’ll be given a specimen cup and directed to a private bathroom to produce your urine sample. No one will watch you urinate.

Your sample will be checked for color and temperature (a preliminary check against cheating), and then it’s sealed with tamper-proof seals and sent to the lab along with a chain of custody paperwork.

Negative drug test results are usually ready 2 to 4 days after the lab receives your sample.

How Long Is The Drug Detection Window On A Urine Test?

How Long Is The Drug Detection Window On A Urine Test?

The drug detection window on a urine test is fairly short on some drugs and longer on others.

It’s not clear whether State Farm uses a 5-panel or a 10-panel drug test. Here are the standard drug detection windows for the most commonly used drugs.

Use the detection window as a detox guideline before you apply for a State Farm job.

A 5-panel urine drug test screens for the following drugs:

  • Opiates – detection window up to 4 days
  • Cocaine – detection window up to 4 days
  • Marijuana – see below
  • Amphetamines and methamphetamine – detection window up to 4 days
  • Phencyclidine (PCP) – detection window up to 14 days

The detection window for marijuana in urine varies depending on your level of use.

  • Single-use – 5 to 8 days
  • 2 to 4 times a month – 11 to 18 days
  • 2 to 4 times a week – 23 to 35 days
  • 5 to 6 times a week – 33 to 48 days
  • Daily use – up to 90 days

A 10-panel drug test screens for all the substances on the 5-panel test plus:

  • Benzodiazepines – up to 7 days
  • Barbiturates – up to 7 days
  • Methadone – up to 72 hours
  • Methaqualone – up to 72 hours
  • Propoxyphene – up to 72 hours

Drug tests may also include a screen for Ecstasy (MDMA) which has a detection window of up to 72 hours, and oxycodone which has a window of up to 48 hours.

Marijuana is the drug with the longest detection window and the longest detox period. To know when you’ve detoxed long enough to pass a urine drug test, you can use a drug testing kit to test yourself at home.

Home drug testing kits are accurate and inexpensive. Pick a kit that includes several tests so you can test again a few days or a week later if you fail the first test.

All you need to do is collect your urine and follow the instructions. With one type of test, you add drops of urine to the absorbent pads on the testing strips. The other type of drug testing kit is much easier to use. Once you collect your urine in the sample cup, you can read the result of the built-in test.
